If Your Phone Isn’t Ringing, Your Website Is the Problem – Courtenay Web Design

If your phone isn’t ringing, it’s not your workmanship — it’s your web presence.
Most Comox Valley trades, retailers, and service businesses still rely on referrals, an aging website, and the hope that “people will find us.” Meanwhile, younger competitors show up above you on Google, their Google Business Profile is loaded with reviews, and they’re getting the calls that should be yours.
What’s going wrong (and why it’s not your fault)
- Your website looks fine — but it loads slow, isn’t built for mobile, and doesn’t drive quote requests.
- You’re buried in Google search and the Map Pack — even in your own neighbourhood.
- You’ve tried boosting posts or running ads, but they were confusing, expensive, or just didn’t work.
- No system for following up with missed calls, quote requests, or past customers.

Our Story — Tom & Theresa Cahill

Our Story
Tom and Theresa Cahill built one of Vancouver Island’s first websites in 1996 — back when the internet was still an experiment for most businesses. By 1999, they launched Cahill Web Studio, becoming one of the Island’s earliest digital agencies.
For 29+ years, they’ve helped contractors, trades, retailers, and local service businesses across Courtenay, the Comox Valley, Campbell River, Nanaimo, and Duncan get more calls, more leads, and more local customers through high-performing websites, Local SEO, and simple, effective follow-up systems.
As childhood sweethearts turned business partners, Tom and Theresa keep their mission simple: build websites that work, rank businesses locally, and deliver real results — without hype or complexity.
Today, Cahill Web Studio remains proudly Island-based, locally trusted, and focused on one thing: helping Vancouver Island businesses win online.

Featured Courtenay Case Study
10 Years, 4 Stores, One Trusted Partner
Gone Fishin’ runs four retail locations across Vancouver Island — with the flagship store on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay. They’re one of the longest-tenured tackle and outdoor retailers in the Comox Valley, and we’ve been their digital partner for over a decade.
Cahill built their original WordPress site 10 years ago. Recently, we rebuilt the whole platform on BigCommerce with a fresh look, SEO’d every product, helped configure shipping for the catalogue, and continue as ongoing consultants. The result:
- Brand-new e-commerce platform with modern UX and conversion-focused checkout
- Every product SEO’d — deep-tail organic visibility for thousands of fishing and outdoor SKUs
- Shipping configurations dialled in for retail-to-customer fulfilment across BC
- 4 stores reinforced online — Courtenay (Cliffe Ave), Port Alberni, Nanaimo, Duncan
A decade-long client relationship is rare in this industry. Gone Fishin’ stayed because the work keeps performing — and because Tom and Theresa pick up the phone.
